High Pressure Metal Hose Solutions
High Pressure Flexible Metal Hose Assemblies
At Flexmetallic, we manufacture high pressure metal hose assemblies for industrial environments where a standard braided hose solution falls short of pressure, temperature or duty requirements. Our high pressure range is built to heavier specifications — for instance thicker corrugated walls, double heavy braid — and is engineered to handle extreme conditions reliably and safely.
All assemblies are manufactured in accordance with ISO 10380. Each assembly is pressure tested prior to dispatch and is fully traceable. All welders are dual-qualified to ASME IX and BS EN ISO 9606-1 standards. 3.1B material certification is available on request, and assemblies can be permanently etched to ensure certification traceability to specific hose assemblies.
High pressure flexible metal hose is used wherever pressurised fluids or gases must be transferred through a system that moves, vibrates or requires a flexible connection. The range handles compressed air, nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, hydraulic oil, steam and many other media across a wide range of industrial applications, at temperatures from −200°C to +600°C.
Our high pressure range covers two products — the 7022 high pressure hose and the high pressure dog leg assembly — each addressing distinct installation and duty requirements.
Engineered for Extreme Pressure Performance
7022 – High Pressure Metal Hose
Heavy wall construction, rated up to 300 bar
The 7022 high pressure metal hose is a heavy wall corrugated stainless steel hose with two layers of heavy braid. It's engineered to withstand extreme pressures. Working pressure ratings range from 30 bar to 300 bar depending on bore, with internal diameters from ¼" to 6".
The heavy wall construction gives the 7022 enhanced resistance to turbulence damage and stronger performance in high-vibration environments — qualities that standard braided hose cannot match at these pressure levels. It handles compressed air, nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, hydraulic oil, steam and other demanding media, making it a reliable choice for both high pressure metal hose and flexible metal gas hose applications.
Manufactured in 316 or 321 stainless steel with ASME IX certified welders throughout. Each assembly is hydrostatic and pneumatic tested, with dimensional checks, visual inspection and weld integrity testing carried out as standard. Test certificates and material traceability documentation are available for pressure-critical projects.
High Pressure Dog Leg Assembly
Flexible connection for rotary and multi-plane movement
The high pressure dog leg assembly joins two high pressure metallic hoses at a 90° elbow, allowing movement to be absorbed across two or more planes simultaneously. It eliminates thrust loads and removes the need for pipe guides.
Commonly specified on rotating drying cans in paper making and on compressor installations managing multi-plane movement at rotary unions. All assemblies are designed and manufactured in-house at our Northampton facility.
Construction & Features
Heavy Wall Corrugated Core
The 7022 uses a thicker corrugated hose wall than standard braided products. This increases pressure rating, improves turbulence resistance and extends service life in high-vibration or high-pressure environments.
Double Heavy Braid
Two layers of heavy stainless steel braid contain operating pressure, protect the corrugated core and provide additional mechanical resilience. This construction achieves working pressures up to 300 bar — far beyond the capability of standard single or double braided hose.
Material Grades & Certification
All high pressure assemblies are manufactured in 316 or 321 stainless steel, handling temperatures from −200°C to +600°C. Welding is carried out by ASME IX certified welders using certified procedures to ISO 10380. Full 3.1B material certification is available, and assemblies are permanently etched and traceable from raw material to finished product. Hydrostatic and pneumatic testing, dimensional checks, visual inspection and weld integrity testing are carried out as standard, with test certificates and material traceability documentation available for pressure-critical projects.
Optional Protection & Accessories
Bend restrictors, wire whip checks and outer procoil wire protection are available across the range. Oxygen-cleaned assemblies can be supplied where required for gas service applications.
Industry Applications
High pressure metal hose and flexible metal gas hose assemblies are used across a wide range of demanding industries, including:
- Oil and gas — upstream, midstream and downstream operations including drilling, gas processing and transportation
- Manufacturing and engineering — pneumatic machinery, hydraulic systems and process fluid distribution
- Aerospace and aviation — aircraft maintenance, fuelling systems, engine testing and ground support
- Medical and healthcare — oxygen, nitrogen and other gas supply for life support, anaesthesia and medical devices
- Paper making — dog leg assemblies on high-speed rotating drying cans
- Compressor installations — dog leg assemblies managing multi-plane movement on rotary unions
Installation & Maintenance
High pressure hose assemblies require careful installation to perform within their rated limits. Keep within the specified minimum bend radius. Avoid axial twist during fitting — this is particularly critical at high pressure where any additional stress on the corrugated wall is magnified. Use bend restrictors where the installation exposes the hose to repeated bending at end fittings.
For dog leg assemblies, ensure the elbow and both hose legs are correctly aligned so movement is absorbed by the assembly rather than transferred to the rotary union or connected pipework.
In service, inspect regularly for wear at the braid surface, condition of end fittings and any signs of kinking or localised deformation. High pressure applications demand more frequent inspection intervals. Our technical team can advise on replacement schedules and installation improvements.
