Flexible & Braided Metal Hoses
Stainless Steel Metal Braided Flexible Hoses
At Flexmetallic, we manufacture metal braided hose assemblies for industrial applications where pressure containment, mechanical protection and flexibility are all required. The braid layer wraps around a corrugated inner hose, adding strength and resistance to abrasion, impact and pressure surge.
All assemblies are manufactured to ISO 10380, pressure tested before despatch and fully traceable. Our welders are dual-coded to ASME IX and BS EN 9606-1, and ISO 9001 certification underpins our quality management throughout.
Metal braided flexible hose is used where unbraided hose would be exposed to higher pressures or mechanical risk. The braid controls expansion, protects the corrugated core and extends service life in demanding environments.
Our metal braided hose range covers three distinct products — single braid, double braid and stainless steel overbraid — each suited to different pressure ratings and duties, and forming part of our wider range of flexible metal hose assemblies.
Our Metal Braided Hose Range
7011 – Single Braided Metallic Hose
Medium pressure with added mechanical protection
The 7011 is a standard pitch corrugated metallic hose with a single layer of stainless steel braid. It is our most widely specified metal braided hose, suitable for the majority of industrial fluid transfer duties at medium pressure. The braid protects the corrugated core from abrasion and minor impact while containing operating pressures beyond the capability of unbraided hose.
Suitable for HVAC, water treatment, chemical transfer and general process pipework. Available in 316, 321 and 304 stainless steel with a full range of end fittings.
7012 – Double Braided Metallic Hose
Higher pressure duties
The 7012 carries two layers of 316 or 304 stainless steel braid over a standard pitch corrugated core. This construction delivers a higher working pressure range — up to 192 bar working pressure with burst pressure up to 768 bar depending on bore — making it the preferred choice where pressure demands exceed the single braid specification.
End fitting options include male and female threaded connections, flanged connections, pipe connections and quick couplings. Optional accessories include anti-kink armour guard, anti-kink spiral guard, spring guard, nylon bounce rings and flame retardant sleeve covers.
7701 – Stainless Steel Overbraid
Outer protection for hose or pipework
The 7701 stainless steel overbraid is a standalone braided sleeve used to protect existing hose or pipework from mechanical damage, abrasion and extreme temperatures. Available in standard sizes from 6mm to 150mm, with larger diameters up to 450mm available on request. Supplied in both 316 and 304 material grades.
The overbraid does not replace the hose — it is a protective outer layer. It is widely used in high-pressure hydraulic environments, chemical processing, extreme temperature applications and anywhere that hose longevity and mechanical resilience are priorities.
Core Features Across the Braided Range
Pressure Performance
The braid layer contains internal pressure, prevents hose expansion and reduces the risk of rupture. Single braid suits medium pressure duties; double braid handles higher pressure ranges up to 192 bar working and 768 bar burst depending on bore size.
Material Construction
All braided hose is manufactured from stainless steel grades 304, 316 and 321. Grade 316 offers enhanced corrosion resistance for chemical and marine environments; grade 321 is suited to elevated temperature duties. Specialist alloys are available for more severe applications on request.
Standards & Certification
All assemblies are manufactured in accordance with ISO 10380. 3.1B material certification is available for full traceability of materials used. Certificates of Conformity are supplied as standard, with non-destructive testing options including ultrasonic, magnetic particle and dye penetrant testing available on request.
Custom Specification
Bore sizes from ¼" to 6" internal diameter. You specify bore, length, pressure rating, temperature range and connection type. End fittings are available in flanged, threaded and welded types with materials matched to your process and environment.
Accessories & Protection
Optional accessories across the range include anti-kink armour guards, spiral guards, spring guards, nylon bounce rings and flame retardant sleeve covers. These extend hose life and provide protection in high-movement or high-abrasion environments.
Industry Applications
Metal braided flexible hose is used across a wide range of plant and building services environments, including:
- HVAC and building services pipework
- Chemical and petrochemical transfer lines
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Steam and condensate systems
- Cryogenic and liquefied gas services
- Water treatment and general process lines
- High-pressure environments requiring burst protection
In each of these applications, the braided construction adds a critical layer of pressure containment and mechanical protection that unbraided hose cannot provide.
Installation & Maintenance
Correct installation protects both the hose and the system. Keep the assembly within its specified minimum bend radius. Avoid axial twist during installation — this is one of the most common causes of early failure in braided hose. Align end fittings so that movement is absorbed by the hose, not transferred to adjacent pipework or fittings.
In service, check regularly for wear at the braid surface, damage at end fittings and any signs of kinking or sharp bending. Braided hose in high-movement or high-vibration applications requires more frequent inspection. Our technical team can advise on replacement intervals and routing improvements.
